When compared against wet plastering, plasterboards prove to be cheaper and durable. The boards are sold in different thicknesses, ranging from 9.5 mm to 13 mm. Also, you can buy large sheets to cover a complete wall. Small plasterboards are known as laths that make handling and transportation extremely easy.

Wall Boards

As mentioned previously, there are several different types of plasterboards. Wall board is one of the most commonly used plasterboards. It has structural properties that can make your building extremely safe. Normal wallboards are sold with double thickness. This is for the reason that they promise higher levels of sound and fire resistance. A lot of people tend to plaster on the board’s ivory face and decorate it for aesthetics.

Vapor Check Boards

Vapor check or vapor barrier plasterboard is a thin film with a metallic finish. The film prevents warm vapors from flowing through. The film works by condensing vapor on the plasterboard. Vapor barrier plasterboards are used to maintain well-insulated, warm buildings.

Sound Reduction Plasterboards

Acoustic or sound reduction plasterboard is of very high density. It provides better sound insulation than many other types of plasterboard! Acoustic plasterboards are effective on ceilings and thin walls. Sound reduction plasterboards are used with resilient bars (sound proofing methods) and mineral wool.

These boards have a pink face that can be plastered and painted. Of course, you can paint the fire board to suit your home’s theme and look.

Water resistant boards are designed with special water repellant additives. These boards are meant to be used in wet areas. The boards are green in color and not plastered. If you live in a humid region, these boards will help you soak up moisture effectively.

4-in-1 Magic

Four-in-One is the most recent type of plasterboard in the industry. The boards are made of special technologies that can make plasterboards impact resistant, fire resistant and waterproof.
