I engaged Nathan Hall to restore and stain my deck based on a quote he provided, which I accepted. Unfortunately, the job was never completed, and the experience was deeply disappointing. Communication ⦁ Nathan estimated the job would take three days. I paid $1,300 upfront, half of the quoted am...
N Squared Building 's reply
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I’m genuinely sorry that the experience left you feeling disappointed, as this was never my intention. I would like to clarify a few points from my side so there is a clear understanding of what occurred. Project Changes & Timing There were several occasions where you changed the plan regarding how you wanted the deck finished, including changing the stain colour three to four times. These changes affected the workflow and contributed to delays. There were also extended periods where progress slowed because you frequently stopped me to discuss what I was doing. I always aim to communicate clearly, but this did add considerable time to the project. Personal Circumstances You were made fully aware that I had to leave unexpectedly on multiple days due to a serious medical emergency involving my new puppy. Sadly, the puppy later passed away, which was extremely difficult. I communicated this situation to you at the time. Materials & Methods The reason a stripper was used was because you specifically requested a faster and more cost-effective option rather than the hourly-rate sanding you declined. I followed the approach based on the budget and instructions you gave. Any product choices made were based on the information discussed and the changes that were requested throughout the job. Communication & Intention I understand how the delays and disruptions would have been frustrating. I apologise if my communication did not meet your expectations during a very difficult personal period. It was never my intention to leave you feeling unsupported or unsure about the progress. While I respect your perspective, I want to make it clear that I did not abandon the job without reason. There were multiple contributing factors, including changes to the scope and significant personal circumstances. I do appreciate the feedback and will take it on board to improve how I manage communication and scheduling going forward.
